I made this Easter Bread a few years ago and while we’re still a ways off from Easter, I thought this might be a fun bake.
One of the first things you’ll do for this recipe is make the starter and let it sit at room temperature overnight. The next day you’ll mix together the starter with the rest of the dough ingredients and using a stand mixer (with the dough mixer attachment) knead this until it’s elastic. Grease a mixing bowl and place the dough in there to let it rise for 1-2 hours. Our house must be colder than most because ours always needs more time to rise but just keep an eye on yours as you want it to be noticeably puffier.
When the bread has risen then you’ll dump it out onto a floured surface and then shape those pieces into a rope. Then you’ll brain the pieces together connecting the ends so it makes a wreath. You’ll cover this and let it rise for another 1-2 hours.
The bake time on this changes so be sure to watch that, but ultimately you’ll let this bake for a total of 45 minutes. Let it cool before adding the glaze and sprinkles but then it’s ready to go! I loved this because it was super fun to make (albeit time consuming), pretty, and delicious!
