Look how adorable these donuts are!! This recipe is super easy and tastes really good; plus it’s gluten-free, which is a bonus. These donuts smell like fall and I’m beyond excited that it’s now officially fall so these fun baked goods are helping usher in a 3-day weekend for me in the mountains.
My track record with baking gluten-free stuff hasn’t been great. I feel like I’m learning to bake all over again. The stuff comes out either too dry or tastes terrible. When I found this recipe I’ll be honest, my expectations weren’t very high. I was proven wrong though!
There’s really nothing difficult about this recipe and it’s very easy to whip up. I did not have Xantham Gum but I’m pretty sure the GF flour I used had it in there so hopefully it won’t mess anything up. They came out of the donut tins fine (though I over filled them a little) so I think it’s fine. My only wish is that they taste more like cinnamon sugar donuts with a hint of apple rather than apple cider donuts but it’s possible that’s just because the cider I’m using it’s as flavorful. I might keep playing around with that in the future.
All in all, for a gluten-free baked good, these little donuts are easy to make and fun to eat. Definitely one of my go-to’s when making stuff for friends with gluten allergies.
