Graham Crackers

I’ve seen a few made from scratch crackers that intrigued me and this was one of them. While of course this does take longer than opening a package of store bought graham crackers; however this has less preservatives and sugar.

This recipe is super easy and you basically just put all of the ingredients into a bowl and mix together. I will note that I didn’t have whole wheat flour and couldn’t find a small thing of it at the store so I just used regular flour. The notes mention that you might need to add a little more so just keep an eye out for that if you also use AP flour.

I had a little mini-baker in the kitchen with me who helped with this step and that was a lot of fun. That’s the nice thing about this recipe is that it’s easy enough that you could do it with kids. Once you’ve got everything mixed together then you’ll roll this out between two pieces of parchment paper.

I saw in the comments that someone cut their crackers with a pizza cutter and that’s what I did. Mine weren’t super neat, but they generally looked like crackers. I poked some holes in them with a fork and then brushed a little milk over the crackers and sprinkled with cinnamon/sugar.

These browned nicely; though I think next time I’d take them out a little minute or two earlier so they’re a little softer as a few of mine got a little crispier than I would have liked. They didn’t quite taste like graham crackers, but that’s probably because I didn’t use whole wheat flour. I do think I’ll try that the next time but they were still good and relatively good for you and we had fun making them so win-win-win.
