I love pecan desserts and so naturally these pecan pie bars caught my attention.
The crust reminds me a lot of a shortbread. You start by browning the butter, mixing it with the other crust ingredients, pressing it into the bottom of the pan, and baking.
For the topping, you’ll mix together the butter, brown sugar, maple syrup, and heavy cream in a saucepan – making sure to stir so it doesn’t burn! Once it’s boiling you’ll let it boil for 3 minutes and then pour a little into the eggs to temper them and then you can pour the egg mixture into the hot mixture. Mix everything together and add the pecans and pour on top of the crust. You’ll bake these for about 30-35 minutes and then let them cool before cutting/eating.
These were amazing. Sometimes pecan pie can be super sticky, but because these are bars you don’t really have to worry about that being an issue. The crust added a nice flavor and they were very addictive. Loved how easy and delicious these were!
