Buttermilk Peach Ice Cream

We grew up with my dad making homemade ice cream and peach was one of our favorites. This recipe looked easy, especially since it’s not a custard based ice cream so I figured it would be fun to try.

First you need to peel the peaches and add the lemon and sugar and let them sit. I let mine go overnight and then got up the next morning, added the rest of the ingredients and then mixed it together in our Cuisinart Ice Cream maker. It didn’t take long to churn so I put it in our ice cream container, throwing in a few of the remaining peach slices in between scoopers and let it thicken up.

It was a little hard to scoop out at first but it looked very good. Taste wise it was good, but I felt like I tasted the buttermilk portion more than anything. I think that’s often the case with fruit ice creams, you don’t really taste the fruit as much but it was still very good. If I made this again, I’d probably try a tactic I’ve seen in other recipes where they add some fruit jam to help add flavor and that might help. All in all though it was very good on a hot day and very quick!
