Red Velvet donuts? Yes, please!

These donuts were fun to make and if you’ll notice in the other photo they have Christmas sprinkles. That’s because I made these around Christmas and did some with Christmas sprinkles and some with just red sprinkles since I’m posting this in February.

Most baked donuts are pretty easy to make and these are no exception. I’ll skip any comments on the actual recipe because it was so simple, but they baked right at 12 minutes and were perfect. I chose to do the vanilla icing for these, but in hindsight I wish I had done the cream cheese icing. First, my vanilla icing was too thin and you can see that in the photo. I gave it a 9 ranking for visual for that reason because I think I could have made them prettier – next time though! I also think the cream cheese would have added some complexity and nostalgia to these so I’d definitely do that next time. These tasted good and were super easy so this will be on my list of things to bake again!
