Chocolate Tres Leches Cake

I’m a big fan of tres leches cake, especially since it’s so easy. I’ve made a normal tres leches cake before, but happened to see this chocolate tres leches cake and knew that I had to try it. I mean honestly, how could it be bad?!

It’s a super easy cake to make. You’re using dutch process cocoa and a little dark chocolate as well to add flavor. I ended up grating my dark chocolate so I used about 5-6 Lindt dark chocolate squares grated to get the 2oz. I had a little leftover so I used that on top for the garnish.

The “tres leches” used in this recipe are evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and chocolate milk. Once the cake is done and cooled you’ll poke some holes in it and pour the milk mixture over it. Let that soak in for a while.

The chocolate whip cream was super easy too. You just throw a little dutch process cocoa into the whipping cream (along with the powdered sugar and vanilla) while mixing. This makes a lot of whipped cream, but it’s worth it. You’ll spread this over the cake and if you don’t want that much on the cake then you can just save the rest or eat it by itself. It’s that delicious! Be sure to keep the cake in the fridge until it’s time to eat.

This gets a 10 all around from me. It’s so easy and really doesn’t take a lot of time. It’s absolutely delicious and I think it’s one of our new favorite cakes! Definitely a winner so be sure to try this one!
