I thought X was going to be very difficult, but I actually ended up finding a few recipes. I went with this one since the other required more time and I needed something easy and this recipe is super easy.
There are five ingredients so very simple. You let the butter soften and then mix it with the confectioners sugar. Then you mix in the flour and cornstarch and you’re supposed to go ahead and mix, but I knew that would get the dry ingredients everywhere so I went ahead and added the milk. The only issue I had with this recipe was I needed to add a little more milk to get the texture it indicated.
This bakes on a low setting and for 25 minutes. They had a bit of an odd texture in the middle and my instinct is they needed another 5 minutes in the oven, but maybe they’re supposed to be like that? We went ahead and ate them since they seemed fine. This reminded me a lot of a British scone or American biscuit since it wasn’t very sweet. I had one by itself and then had some leftover raspberry jam from the Victoria Sponge Cakes so I topped another with it and some whipped topping and it was pretty delicious.
I only gave these a 9 in taste and visual because I think visually they could look better so I might try something a little different than the cookie stamp that I used. Then I feel like I would try and bake a little longer next time to see if the texture gets better. I would try these again though since they were great with a cup of hot tea and very easy!
