While I’m not a huge cookie fan there are a few cookies I love and Chick Fil A’s are on that short list. I’ve been looking for a few copycat recipes and decided to start with this one.
The recipe is pretty simple and you start by creaming the butter/shortening and sugars. I will say that I did not have butter flavored shortening so I just used the plain kind. Add in your eggs, honey, and vanilla extract and stir; then you’ll add all the dry ingredients. Finally you’ll add the 2 different kinds of chocolate chips and stir until just combined. Let this chill in the fridge for an hour.
The instructions say to use a big scoop and scoop out the cookies and then split in half and mash together with the ragged side face up. I had no idea what this meant until my husband explained it so the first round of cookies were just normal. I did do that to the second batch and I guess they looked a little better but honestly I’m not sure I could tell a huge difference. It’s not like it’s super time consuming so might has well. It says to bake for 12-13 minutes but mine needed close to 18 before they were done.
These were really good and I definitely think they’re a good copycat. I wasn’t a huge fan of the honey flavoring and would either reduce the amount or take it out altogether when I try this again though. I just felt like it was too sweet and that didn’t feel like what I remember from Chick Fil A, though it’s possible I’m just not tasting it. Very very good though and will certainly be on our normal rotation.
