Every once in a while I end up with a recipe that just doesn’t turn out and this was one of those. I won’t any time on the recipe itself since it’s very easy and straightforward other than to say that I followed the recipe exactly. Despite this I did notice my dough was a little thinner than I thought it should be, but I just went with it and piped anyway. They were already starting to spread a little after I piped it onto the cookie sheet. I let my cookies chill for 30 minutes but that still didn’t seem to help things.
The flavor was fine, just kind of basic, and definitely not what I was hoping for. I wanted that classic, crisp, buttery cookie with a nice crunch (kind of similar to shortbread), but these came out soft and flat. Not terrible, but not great either. I chilled the trays before baking and everything, so I’m not sure what went wrong, but they weren’t pretty.
