There’s nothing better than the smell of apples or cinnamon during the fall!
This recipe is really easy to make. I’d recommend peeling/cutting the apples first just so it’s out of the way. My apples were a little smaller so it took about 3. Mix the chopped apples with 1/2 cup of the brown sugar and a teaspoon of cinnamon. When that’s done you’ll brown the butter and then once it’s ready you’ll add the apple butter and some of the brown sugar. After it’s cooled a but just mix it with the eggs and vanilla. Pour that mixture into the dry ingredients and stir. Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13 pan and pop it in the oven to bake.
While it’s baking you’ll brown a little more butter and then add it to some powdered sugar, maple syrup, cinnamon, and salt. Mine was a little thick so I put it in a piping bag and piped it onto the cake once it was done.
I couldn’t wait to taste it so mine was still a little hot, but it was delicious! The cake part (is it cake??) had a subtle apple flavor and the chopped apples added a nice touch. The glaze was very good as well and altogether it was a nice fall bake and was great with a cup of tea!
